C.D. Leganés back at the Butarque to boost their league campaign

C.D. Leganés battle Real Sociedad ‘B’ at the Butarque this Saturday in their 23rd league game of the season. The pepineros are hoping to clear their home record with a fresh win over a side hunting for points to escape relegation.

LaLiga returns to the Butarque after a near-month absence for the pepineros after their last game in 2021 against S.D. Ponferradina, except now Leganés open with a home advantage to help deliver justice in this reverse fixture to climb the table. The blanquiazules will want to solidify their home performances, now undefeated in LaLiga since Mehdi Nafti's sideline arrival, as well as aiming to get one back against the realistas after the narrow defeat in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

Of course, the pepinero coach cannot count on Fede Vico as an option with his ACL recovery, nor Kenneth Omeruo, due to begin the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria. Cissé's ankle difficulties continue and Rodri Tarín remains out, though he is expected to be available for the following match. Nafti will be glad to have Bruno González back at his disposal after a two game absence.

Real Sociedad 'B': a wish for a win to ensure security

Real Sociedad ‘B’ make their first trip to the Butarque since the 2013/14 season, where they emerged as victors, but now find themselves desperate for a win to escape the relegation zone. The donostiarras are in second last and seven points from safety.  crippling their new division survival campaign.

The ‘txuri urdin’ affiliate side are on a six-game losing streak, with only one win in their last ten games, though their away record should also be noted: having won three of their four league wins on the road. Curiously, the other win was over Leganés in the league opener at the Reale Arena, when Xabi Alonso's side took the points on the slimmest of margins (1-0).

The fixture will be officiated by the Valencian referee, Sr. D. Saúl Ais Reig.
