C.D. Leganes defeats Levante U.D. and keeps going up the table (1-0)

C.D. Leganés earned the three points on Monday night thanks to a goal by Óscar Rodríguez in the 12^thminute of the first half. A victory that helps the team achieve 33 points so far in the 26^thmatchday and keep going up the table.

The match started with an intense and fast game by Leganés, aiming for the goal defended by Aitor Fernández since the beginning of the match. The first chance came by the 5^thminute when Óscar Rodríguez’s shot in a free kick went straight to the crossbar. In the 9^thminute, Braithwaite was the author of the second chance by the cucumber side of the night, with a shot that just went off by a little after a great play by Óscar and Kravets through the left side of the pitch.

The goal for the cucumber side came around the 12^thminute. Levante had a free kick, which was intercepted by the cucumber side in order to counter attack. Aitor Fernández had to go out to try to intercept a long pass by Rubén Pérez, and the rebound was first shot afterwards by Carrillo unsuccessfully then to be shot by Óscar to the back of the net, opening the score for Lega.

The best chance for the granotas came by the 23^rdminute, when Jason couldn’t beat Cuellar, due to a great save by the keeper. Little by little, the game started to be equal in the style of play until half time.

In the second half the team from the valencian community stepped up and generated chances trying to defeat Cuellar with a lot of crosses, but they were unable to score due to the cucumber defense effort. Lega had trouble holding the ball, and the granotas took advantage by dominating the ball possession and creating danger. Nonetheless, they were incapable to beat Cuellar in all the second half. The cucumber side had a perfect chance to increase the advantage of the game with an amazing run by Kravets then assisting Óscar to what could have been a great goal, but Aitor was able to block the shot.

The cucumber side achieved that way the three points that locate the in the 11^thposition of the table with 33 points, leaving the team only 4 points away from European competitions.
