C.D. Leganés hoping to repeat last year's win over C.D. Tenerife

C.D. Leganés will host C.D. Tenerife this Saturday (21:00 CEST) in what will be the 11th official clash between the two teams at the Butarque. So far, the ten previous meetings have been evenly matched, with four wins for the pepineros, three draws and three victories for the Tenerife side.

Leganés and Tenerife have met on Madrid soil for seven Segunda División matches, then twice in the Segunda División 'B' and once in the Copa del Rey. The Tenerife side won their first two visits to Butarque, 4-0 in 1999/00 and 1-0 in 2000/01, in the process of securing a promotion to the Primera División.

Javi Hernández made the difference last time out

The next two matches, again in the Segunda División, ended in a draw: 1-1 in 2002/03, with Miguel Ángel scoring for the blanquiazules, and 0-0 in 2003/04. The two sides met for two seasons in Segunda 'B': in 2011/12 with a 2-0 pepinero win, with goals from Tonino and Víctor, and in 2012/13, with a draw (1-1) and a goal from Carlos Martínez for Leganés.

Back in the Segunda División, Leganés won in the 2014/15 season (2-0, with goals from Álvaro García and Borja Lázaro), while Tenerife won 1-0 at the Butarque in 2015/16. In between, the pepineros won the cup tie of the same season with a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Omar Ramos and Szymanowski. The most recent encounter came last season, when Leganés took all three points thanks to Javi Hernández (1-0).
