C.D. Leganés, in favor of tolerance and equality on the International Day against LGTBIphobia in Sports

Once again, C.D. Leganés joins the celebrations for the International Day against LGTBIphobia in sport, demonstrating its commitment to a fairer and more egalitarian society.

This season, the support of the first team will be visible next Sunday, in the LaLiga Smartbank match against C.D. Tenerife, when the player who serves as captain will wear the armband with the rainbow colors that represent the fight against all types of homophobia and discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Likewise, the Club has participated in the municipal campaign that the City Council of Leganés has promoted among all the sports entities of the city to launch a common message against intolerance.

Meeting with Legaynés

On the eve of the meeting, Luis Santidrián, president of Legaynés, an association defending the rights of the LGTBI collective in Leganés, will meet with the pepineros captains to make them aware of the need to guarantee equal treatment in sport and prevent gender discrimination behavior.
The International Day against LGTBIphobia in sport is commemorated every February 19 in memory of Justin Fashanu, an English footballer who ended up committing suicide due to the pressure he was under after publicly declaring that he was homosexual.
