C.D. Leganés strengthens its midfield with the arrival of Yvan Neyou

C.D. Leganés and A.S. Saint-Étienne reached an agreement on Wednesday to sign 25-year-old Cameroon international midfielder Yvan Neyou Noupa on loan for one season. The African player becomes the sixth signing for the club for the current 2022/23 season.

Neyou, a native of Douala, developed in French training football (he has dual French-Cameroonian nationality and does not occupy an extra community place), making his debut with Sedan's first team in the 2015/16 season and then moving on to Stade Lavallois. He then spent a year in Portugal with S.C. Braga before returning to France with Saint-Étienne, with whom he played in the 2020 Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Two seasons at Ligue 1 and debut with Cameroon national team in the last Africa Cup

The following season was the one of his consolidation in Ligue 1, becoming a starter in the midfield of the green team, Saint-Étienne, with which he has played fifty games in the French first division. This season, Neyou has already played in two league games for the French side. The new Pepinero player made his debut in 2021 with the Cameroon national team, with whom he played in the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations last January.

Neyou is a midfielder who can play as a defensive pivot or accompany another midfielder. He stands out for his tactical sense and physical ability, as well as having a good eye for the ball. He will start training this Wednesday under the orders of Imanol Idiakez, and his presentation date will be announced in the next few days.
