C.D. Leganés travel to C.D. Tenerife in search of back-to-back wins

This Sunday C.D. Leganés play their 26th league fixture against C.D. Tenerife at their Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López. The pepineros are looking for a second consecutive victory against an opponent set on consolidating their play-off spot, but aspiring to reach automatic progression.

Leganés are bound for the Canary Islands following their victory over A.D. Alcorcón last week, a needed result that will restore some confidence in the camp as they look towards their next run of fixtures. First comes the journey to C.D. Tenerife, where the blanquiazules are yet to triumph, but hope to secure a fifth away win of the season, having successfully taken all three points from their encounters in Miranda, Huesca, Zaragoza and Málaga.

For pepinero manager Mehdi Nafti, the squad is fully replenished and bolstered by the signings over the winter transfer window, including goalkeeper Dani Jiménez and French centre back Jimmy Giraudon as well as a more familiar name, Bustinza, who saw his suspension completed last game. That said, Bruno, Luis Perea and Róber Ibáñez are still recovering from their respective injuries. Also unavailable are Eraso and Naim.

C.D. Tenerife, settled in a play-off position, but eyeing the top

Tenerife will fancy their prospects as they approach the game in good form, located at 4th in the table, only 4 points from the leaders and 2 points from the second place finish that would grant them automatic promotion. The chicharreros have also gained ground on 7th place Girona; a 7-point cushion separates the two sides. With only one defeat to remember from their last nine matchdays, they count themselves the lowest-conceding side in the division, with only 19 goals given up so far. These are numbers that testify to the strong campaign over which Luis Miguel Ramis has presided this season, with his newest attacking signings of Andrés Martín and Mario González, who debuted last week, at his disposal on Sunday.

The fixture will be officiated by the Basque referee, Sr. D. Aitor Gorostegui Fernández-Ortega.
