CD. Leganés and Mexican coach Javier Aguirre Onaindia reached an agreement for the Aztec coach to take charge of the pepineros' bench until the end of the season. Aguirre, 60, has a long career, having directed more than 350 games in the First Division. Luis Cembranos will continue directing the second team.
Aguirre, who played in America, Atlante, Osasuna and Guadalajara, in addition to the Mexican national team, with which he played in the 1986 World Cup, began his career as a coach in his home country directing Atlante, Pachuca and the national team before sign for Osasuna, with which he would be for four seasons in which he led the rojillos to European competition and a Copa del Rey final. Subsequently, he directed Atlético de Madrid between 2006 and 2009 and again to the Mexican national team in a second stage.
In Spain, he also went through the benches of Zaragoza and Espanyol, to later lead the selection of Japan, the Al-Wahda of the United Arab Emirates and the selection of Egypt. Aguirre will join the training on Monday afternoon (4:30 p.m. Sports Facility Butarque) and will be presented on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the press room of the Butarque Sports Facility.
