Javier Avilés scored his first goal with the first team

C.D Leganés’ youth squad player Javier Avilés scored his first goal in an official match with the first team last Saturday at El Sadar against Osasuna. The 22-year-old winger kicked the ball from outside and beat Sergio Herrera.

Avilés got into the pitch after half time replacing Aitor Ruibal and after only four minutes on the pitch he got to score the goal that tied the match. At the end, Javier Aguirre´s team ended up losing their game against Osasuna by 2-1.

“I am happy for the goal but sorry about the result”

This is the sixth match played by Avilés with Leganés’ first team. His debut was on the last season with Mauricio Pellegrino as the manager on a Copa del Rey match against Rayo Vallecano. He played hist first LaLiga match against Atlético de Madrid on the current season and had some minutes against Andorra for a cup match, Real Valladolid and Real Mallorca.

Avilés also played 21 matches with the second team and scored two goals. At the end of the match he was happy for the goal but sorry for the last minute loss by the team: “Personally I’m happy because I got to score but it is impossible to be satisfied about the result. He deserved more, even after tying we continued pursuing the result, but a last-minute goal leaves us annoyed. The team has worked hard, and we have not had luck. We must continue fighting and we have a match next Tuesday that we must win”.
