José Luis Martí: “I hope to watch the same Leganés no matter if we play home or away”

C.D Leganés’ manager attended the media before the match that his team will play against C.D Lugo (Sunday, 12:00h) at Anxo Carro for the second matchday of LaLiga SmartBank.

The coach confirmed that José Arnaíz cannot be part of the squad because of an injury but the rest of the players are ready to play: “They may be part of the match because they show their skills at training sessions. Ignasi Miquel and Michael Santos are understanding our football idea, but they may be with us for this match. Santos has speed and gets off his mark well, Miquel is solid and has good aerial skills. Both have arrived to help and try to get a spot in the team”.

Martí gave the keys to next Sunday’s match: “Even though we manage to get a clean sheet or not, we must score one goal more than our rivals. We try to send the message of the importance that goals have. We have good offensive potential and we should try to create more options and shoot more than we did on the first matchday. Lugo has played with a five and four defenders’ schemes, they are competitive and normally play better at home. They aim for possession, their wings are normally used for crosses and they will create some problems for us”.

We must create a winning mentality no matter where the match is played”

When asked about the team’s performance away from Butarque: “I hope Leganés will be the same team no matter the rival or the pitch. This is an even competition and we will have to suffer sometimes or being favorites in others. We must be able to adapt to different situations and to be constant. Our idea is to play with two forwards, but we will rotate according to circumstances and the players we have available for each game”.

The manager hopes that the fact of not playing with fans does not affect his team (“as managers we should promote a winning mentality no matter how the match is played”) and finally referred to the fact that the transfer market is still open: “it is not ideal but this is a pandemic process and we must adapt ourselves. We cannot do anything else and must be ready in case some players leave, or others arrive. We are happy with our squad we have right now”.
