Kenneth Omeruo becomes the most-capped African player in club history

C.D. Leganés defender Kenneth Omeruo has become the African player with the most official matches played with the pepinera shirt. The Nigerian center-back equaled in the last match the Moroccan midfielder Nabil El Zhar with 82 matches wearing the Blue and Whites' jersey.


Omeruo has completed his third season as a pepinero, after arriving in the summer of 2018 at Butarque from Chelsea F.C. In his first campaign he played 31 official matches, with another 23 in 2019/20 and 28 in the course that has just concluded.

Etoo, En-Nesyri, Amrabat, Medjani, Webó or Ohen, some of the illustrious Africans who wore the Blue and Whites' kit.

The Nigerian international is now the African player who has worn the C.D. Leganés jersey the most times, equaling the Moroccan El Zhar and ahead of players such as

En-Nesyri, Lawal, Amrabat, Etoo, Diamanka or Awaziem.

Nyom, Tetteh, Rida, Makukula, Mario Jorge, Assalé, Medjani, Amadou, Baba Sule, Koné, Webó, Elvis Onyema, Ohen and Aymane complete the list of African players who have played official matches with the Blue and Whites' jersey.
