Mehdi Nafti: "I'm delighted for our fans, it's been of suffering and it makes us proud to bring them joy again"

C.D. Leganés manager, Mehdi Nafti, appeared in a press conference folllowing the Pepineros' 15th league game of the season, played on Friday in El Alcoraz against S.D. Huesca which finished in a two goal victory for the visitors (2-0).

The coach summarised the encounter as such: "It was a contested game, between two strong sides. We took the initiative to go ahead to inspire the team forward, and Recio's arrival helped loosen up the play. We could have done more in the opposition's half, but we conceded few chances and in the second half we got our second also. We were both guilty of a little anxiety I think, with both sides at times looking like they wanted the quick kill. But in the second half it was clear we deserved to win".

"We overpowered them in defense and attack, which is where we've had problems in the last few weeks"

Nafti was more than happy to share his joy and gratefulness with all the Pepinero fans: "I'm delighted for our fans. It's been weeks of suffering, ups and downs, emotions, and it makes us proud to have come to this difficult away fixtures and given them a glimpse of happiness. Also for our players, who put in all the work, and for the whole club's contributions to helping us along, from the sporting direction to the assistants. Everyone's helped us set off on the right foot".

Lastly, the Franco-Tunisian coach spoke on the team's fluidity going forward as well as on the back foot: "On an individual level, there were two squads that lined up on the pitch, but you could tell one of the teams was struggling, had nerves and lacked the confidence to score. As the result of staying with our game we've gained that little bit of confidence and it's made us more powerful in both areas of the game, which is a far cry from where we were a few weeks ago"
