Preview: C.D. Leganés hosts U.D. Logroñés in search of three vital points

C.D. Leganés receives U.D. Logroñés this Sunday (21:30) at the Estadio Municipal Butarque, in a match corresponding to the thirty-ninth round of LaLiga SmartBank. The pepineros want to get closer to the promotion play-offs against a team from La Rioja that needs to win to escape from the bottom of the table.

C.D. Leganés faces its penultimate home match of the regular league with the aim of adding three new points that will bring them closer to certify their qualification for the play-off for promotion to LaLiga Santander. The pepineros arrive at the match after drawing the last two matches against direct rivals such as Real Sporting and Rayo Vallecano, while they have accumulated four consecutive matches without losing.

A win would pave the way to the playoffs, while keeping the third place currently held by U.D. Almeria within reach. However, Asier Garitano will have to deal with the multiple absences of players, as up to seven will not be able to play against the Riojans: Bustinza, Omeruo, Ignasi Miquel, Lasure, José Arnaiz and Borja Bastón, due to injury, and Eraso, due to suspension.

U.D. Logroñés, looking for a way out of the relegation zone

For its part, U.D. Logroñés arrives at Butarque with the need to win or, at least, to score to get out of the bottom of the table. The "Blanquirrojos" dropped to the relegation places after the last matchday, although with the same points as their immediate predecessor, C.D. Castellón. For this reason, getting a positive result at the Pepinero stadium would be vital for their aspirations of staying in the relegation places.
The coach of the Riojan team, Sergio Rodríguez, will be able to count on almost the entire squad for this match, in which they hope to break their four-game winless streak. On the positive side, they have won their last three away games, beating C.D. Mirandés (0-1) and drawing against S.D. Ponferradina (2-2) and C.D. Castellón (0-0).
The match will be refereed by the Basque referee, Mr. Jon Ander González Esteban.
