Preview: C.D. Leganés look for a third consecutive victory

This Sunday C.D. Leganés will face C.D. Lugo at the Estadio Municipal Butarque in their eighth matchday of the LaLiga SmartBank season. The pepineros are after a third consecutive victory to continue climbing the table while their opponents will be focused on opening their winning account on the road.

Following the display last Sunday in Anduva against C.D. Mirandés that saw C.D. Leganés win their first away game (2-1), the pepineros now return to the Butarque no longer in the relegation zone. It was the team's second consecutive victory after their first home win against S.D. Amorebieta (2-1) the week before.

The blanquiazules play host to the Galicians in the hopes of a third consecutive win, this time, in a stadium with a 100% crowd capacity as now permitted by the updated Covid-19 restrictions. With regards to the squad, injuries will prevent coach Asier Garitano from using Javier Avilés, Quintillà and Bautista.

C.D. Lugo, looking for a first away win

For C.D. Lugo, the trip to the Butarque has the potential to be the first victory on the trail for Anxo Carro's men. In their last seven league games, the Galicians have one win against S.D. Huesca (3-2) and four draws.

With only one disappointing result away from home in their (2-1) defeat to Cartagena, the C.D. Lugo side will take inspiration from their draws against Oviedo (2-2) and Fuenlabrada (1-1) to turn the result in their favour and their gaze further up the table.

Manager Rubén Albés will also have to contend with the absences of Mayoral, Juanpe, Moyano, Pedro López, Alberto Rodríguez, Whalley, Álex Pérez and Pita.

The fixture will be officiated by the Valencian referee, Mr. D. Iván Caparrós Hernández.
