The project 'El C.D. Leganés, with the sport of its city' helps more than 50 clubs in the municipality to promote grassroots sports.

On Monday afternoon, the C.D. Leganés Foundation convened the sports, women's and inclusive clubs of the municipality that participate in the project 'El C.D. Leganés, with the sport of their city' to carry out the signing of the agreements by which the Foundation will allocate 168,025 euros for the promotion and improvement of their disciplines.

In this 2020/21 season, the Foundation has thought it appropriate to add, in a framework of exceptionality, its small grain of sand so that athletes and clubs in the municipality can cope with the difficulties and limitations caused by the pandemic of covid-19.

The impact of the relegation and the consequences of covid-19, have meant a 70% reduction in the budget of C.D. Leganés, being proportionally relevant for the rest of entities and athletes of the municipality. The C.D. Leganés Foundation could not remain on the sidelines in this situation.

More than fifty entities signed the agreements in Butarque, respecting the corresponding security measures.

The event took place at the Butarque Municipal Stadium, where 54 entities from Leganés gathered. All of them were accessed in different time shifts and respecting the corresponding security measures. The President of the Club, Ms. Victoria Pavón, together with Mr. Felipe Moreno, Vice President of the Club and President of the Foundation, and Mr. Martín Ortega, General Manager of the Club, and supported by the Mayor of the city, Mr. Santiago Llorente, and the Councilor for Sports, Miguel Ángel Gutiérrez, brought together all the sports clubs of the city to sign the grants for the benefit of thousands of families in Peñuelas.

Victoria Pavón took the floor highlighting the importance of signing this project: "We have decided to support our sports entities. I am from Leganés, the Club is closely linked to Leganés and we live in first person the needs they have. The problems that we all have as entities, they also have them, so whenever we can, we do our bit".

For his part, the Mayor of the city, Mr. Santiago Llorente, wanted to thank the Fundación del C.D. Leganés for its involvement with the local sport: "The clubs have to face costs that in another normal year would not be there. It has been a difficult season in which there is no public in the facilities, many sponsors have had to cut back on advertising, and in this case that the C.D. Leganés continues to maintain this support through its Foundation to local sport, to grassroots sport, the truth is that it says a lot about a club so established in the city, so rooted as is the Lega".
