As if it was today… eight years ago Leganés performed an amazing comeback to win against Rayo 'B' (2-3) and leave relegation spots

As if it was today… eight years ago Leganés visited Rayo Vallecano’s sports facilities to face the Rayo’s second team. The pepineros had won against Tenerife on their previous match day but remained on relegation spots. There were only 7 match days remaining for the end of the season.

Lega’s rivals that day were having a great season and had on their team a good forward with Leo Baptistao and Jaime Mata. Jose María Rico’s team that day was: Rubén Falcón, Pedro Hernández, Mario, Biel Medina, Alcántara, David López, Vicente, Tonino, Víctor, Marco Navas and Rubén Navarro. Chupe, Javi Ballesteros and Canario played on second half.

It was a hard start of the match for the pepineros because of the two goals scored by Dani and Mata. Rubén Navarro managed to score before the first half ended giving hopes to the white and blues. On second half Chupe managed to tie the game just 15 minutes after half time and on the match’s last play it was Javi Ballesteros who scored the winner for the pepineros with an unstoppable header.

With 6 remaining matches the pepineros left relegation spots but still had a big challenge in order to stay at Segunda División 'B'.
