C.D Leganés and Alexander Szymanowski separate their paths

C.D Leganes and the Spanish-Argentinean winger Alexander Szymanowski separate their paths. One of the captains of the first team, whose contract was about to expire at the end of the 2019/20 season, will not continue at the Club after five seasons as a pepinero.

31-year old Szymanowski arrived to Leganés on the summer of 2015 from the Danish Brondby. He was one of the team’s heroes on his first season as a white and blue when the team got promoted to First Division, he played 46 official matches and scored thirteen goals, becoming the top scorer of the team.

He was one of the main players during the team’s first season at the top playing 28 matches and scoring 8 goals. He scored the decisive goal to reach the survival on the penultimate matchday at San Mamés.

A second stage with injuries at the Club

His third season started with great expectations until he got injured on December 9, 2017 at Riazor when playing against R.C Deportivo. He spent a year and a half away from the pitches fighting against physical problems. He managed to play again on the last matchday of the 2018/19 season against S.D Huesca

After starting without problems on the last season, a new knee injury kept him away from the pitches again. Szymanowski leaves Leganés after having played 90 official matchdays and scoring 23 goals.

The Club wants to thank him for all he has given during his stage at Leganés. He will remain forever as one of the promotion to First Division icons and the first years at the top category. The Club also wishes him the best of luck both personally and professionally.
