C.D. Leganés clearly beats U.D. Logroñés to get closer to the play-offs (3-0)

C.D. Leganés clearly defeated U.D. Logroñés (3-0) at the Estadio Municipal Butarque, in the thirty-ninth LaLiga SmartBank matchday. Miguel de la Fuente, with a brace, and Sabin Merino scored the goals for the pepineros.

Asier Garitano made three changes to the starting eleven from the last matchday in Vallecas, with Sergio González, Juan Muñoz and Sabin Merino replacing Omeruo, Eraso and José Arnaiz. Leganés came out intense and looking to reach the opponent's area, with a first shot by Juan Muñoz in minute 8 that went close to Santamaría's goal. The visitors responded with a shot in minute 10 that forced Riesgo to make a good save.

Miguel de la Fuente gave Leganés the lead in the first half.

In 22', Leganés took the lead: Sergio González advanced with the ball, put a ball behind the back of the defense that Juan Muñoz tried to extend and Miguel de la Fuente, with a first-time left-footed shot, beat Santamaría low. It was the third goal in LaLiga SmartBank for the striker from Valladolid and the second in a row after the one scored in Vallecas.
Leganés were looking for the second goal with flank arrivals, especially from Avilés, and with inside combinations between Juan Muñoz and Miguel. However, the Riojans did not lose the game, and Paulino had a good action in 42' that did not find the net. The score was 1-0 at halftime.

Miguel's double and a great goal by Sabin to close the game.

The second half started with Logroñés looking for the equalizer after making a triple substitution. However, it was Leganés who were going to widen the gap: in 57', Javi Hernández received inside the area and, after a rebound, Miguel de la Fuente scored with force to make it 2-0. This was the first double of the season for the Blue and Whites' 29th player, who shortly after left the field along with Avilés to bring on Róber Ibáñez and Kevin Bua.
Asier Riesgo had to intervene in minute 71 following a header by Andoni López, while shortly after, Asier Garitano made another double substitution, bringing on Tarín and Rubén Pardo for Jonathan Silva and Juan Muñoz. And, in 81', the third was to come: Sabin Merino's whip from the edge of the area that slipped into the far corner for his ninth goal of the season.

There was still time for reserve team striker Diego García to make his first-team debut in an official match, replacing Sabin Merino. With the final whistle, Leganés consolidated their fourth position and moved up to 66 points. Their next game will be this Wednesday (21:30) at Anduva against C.D. Mirandés.
