C.D. Leganés close to earning first points of the season in the Benito Villamarín, after breaking the tie on the scoreboard with a goal by Braithwaite in the 49th minute. Loren (54') and Fekir (64') completed the comeback for the Sevillians.
The match began with a Leganés motivated and complicating the match for Real Betis, with a high pressure that prevented Rubi’s squad from approaching Cuéllar’s goal. However, Leganés failed to generate clear scoring chances in those first minutes.
Gradually Real Betis started taking control over the ball and began to approach the cucumber goal. The Verdiblancos had their best chance in the 42’, with a shot by Joaquín that ended up hitting the post. Right before the end of the first half, after a corner kick, Betis would hit the ball to the post again.
In the second half, Leganés managed to reach Joel’s goal. Oscar shot inside the area, Joel blocked it and Braithwaite, attentive, sent it to the back of the net in the 49’. Leganés could not, however, hold the advantage for long, since Betis tied the score minutes later. In the 54’, Loren scored after a side cross. A goal that motivated Betis, because in 62’ they scored again to get ahead with a goal by Fekir.
Leganés did not give up and continued fighting, creating danger and approaching the Joel’s goal with a very active José Arnaiz, who entered for the second half, and twice tested Betis’ goalkeeper, who had to stretch to clear the ball to a corner in both cases. By the 90’, Braithwaite had the tie in his boots, when after receiving a low ball from the right wing, he finished high from within the area shortly before the end of the match.
