C.D. Leganés defeats Getafe by 0-2 and wins the #DerbiHistórico

C.D. Leganés achieved a crucial victory against Getafe C.F. by 0-2 in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez in the 29th matchday for LaLiga Santander. Michael Santos and Juanfran scored the goals in an intense second half.

The match began with a very offensive Leganés with many long passes aiming for Carrillo and Santos, the forwards selected by Mauricio Pellegrino.

The first chance of the match came by the right side after a cross by Nyom then headed by Santos, ending a little over the Getafe’s goal.

Guido Carrillo could have opened the score in the first half

In the 16^thminute of the first half the cucumber side had their best chance after the referee called a penalty kick due to a handball by Maksimovic on a shot by Óscar Rodriguez. Guido Carrillo was in charge of converting the penalty kick into a goal, but David Soria predicted where the shot was aimed to and then blocked it.

Pellegrino’s team kept on aiming for David Soria’s goal. In the 33^rdminute, Pellegrino’s side had another chance with a cross from the boots of Jonathan Silva, caught by Soria. A few minutes later Pichu Cuellar made an impressive save to keep his goal on zero.

Michael Santos opened the score for Leganés

In the 49^thminute of the game, Leganés opened the score in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez thanks to a beautiful header by Michael Santos. The Uruguayan forward scored after heading an amazing cross from the Argentinian Jonathan Silva from the left side.

Getafe tried to react quickly to the cucumber’s goal, but they stumbled upon a very solid defense that prevented them from scoring. In the 66^thminute, Guido Carrillo had a chance to increase the score after a corner kick, but his header went just a bit over the crossbar.

Juanfran doubled the score in the Coliseum

Leganés achieved the second goal in the 83^rdminute, after an amazing fifty meters run by Juanfran through the whole right side of the field, ending with a crossed shot to beat by two goals their rival’s in the #DerbiHistórico.

The cucumber side ends the 29^thmatchday with 36 points located in the 11^thposition of the table.
