C.D. Leganés draw with Burgos C.F. in their first game back at the Butarque (0-0)

C.D. Leganés collected a single point after their tie (0-0) in their home debut against Burgos C.F. The pepineros hunted for the decider for 90 minutes with their fans right behind them, but no goal came as Garitano's men got their first point of the season.

The pepineros stepped onto the pitch in front of 4,000 supporters returning to the Butarque for the first time in a half and a half. With the changes to the lineup including Bustinza, Quintillà, Luis Perea, Bárcenas, Juan Muñoz y José Arnaiz compared to the XI that kicked off the season against Real Sociedad 'B', the pepineros played with an goal hungry intensity right from the first whistle. Juan Muñoz, in the 5th minute, already began leading the attempts on goal.

Pepinero domination in the first half with the clearest chances falling to Arnaiz

The Sevilian in the 10th minute came close once again, while Riki set the ball rolling for the Castilian. In the 18th minute, the official Sánchez López sent off Grego after an altercation with Luis Perea, a man advantage on which Leganés almost immediately capitalised with a stunning individual effort from Arnaiz who challenged the keeper to a tight save in the far corner. Gaku, in the 25th minute, struck the ball just over the bar and Palencia nearly found the net with his header in the 27th minute from Perea's cross, only to be denied by Herrero for Burgos.

Arnaiz's headed effort in the 39th minute, assisted by Bustinza, was equally close to beating Herrero. The final attempt in the first half came from Perea, but the first 45 remained goalless despite the pepineros dominating the ball.

Blanquiazul determination goes unrewarded

The second half was introduced with Merino's substitution for Palencia to bolster their attacking presence. Soon after Leganés kept up the pressure on Herrero, who was tested with a fierce effort from Javi Hernández. Quintillà levelled a left-footer in the 51st minute that just climbed over the bar while Arnaiz was left frustrated again in the 62nd minute as his hopes to find the far corner were disappointed.

Two more changes were made to the side with Asier Garitano bringing on Jonathan Silva and new signing Fede Vico for Quintillà and Juan Muñoz 20 minutes into the second half: the first few minutes for Vico as a pepinero competing against a resolute Burgos who defended well and were spying for a counter. Academy products Naim and Diego García were the final adjustments to the side as the clocked ticked down on Leganés ambitions for a win as Merino, in the 84th minute, struggled to keep his last effort on target.

The pepineros put their first point up on the table this season and will play their next game this Saturday (19:30 CEST) at the Butarque against U.D. Ibiza.
