C.D. Leganés won both of their previous encounters with Real Valladolid in LaLiga SmartBank

C.D. Leganés play host this Sunday at 16:00 CEST to Real Valladolid, a team they enjoy a strong home record against. The pepineros have won four of the five official matches played at home between the two sides, including the two occasions the clubs have clashed in LaLiga SmartBank.

The first official meeting between the blanquiazules and the blanquivioletas came in the 2014/15 season, the end of Leganés decade-long wait to return to Segunda Divsión, and was clinched by a single goal from Borja Lázaro in the second half. The following campaign which famously brought Lega into LaLiga Santander for the first time in the club's history saw Garitano's men produce a formidable 4-0 score against the pucelanos, with goals from Guillermo, Gabriel, Sastre and Szymanowski.

Guido Carrillo, hero last time out against Real Valladolid

Leganés and Valladolid returned to face eachother in 2017/18 during the last 16 stage of the Copa del Rey, in which the pepineros historically advanced as far as the semi-finals. The madrileños travelled to win in Zorrilla (1-2) and returned to win the home leg (1-0) thanks to a goal from Tito.

In the 2018/19 season in the top flight, Leganés' victory over Valladolid was again by fine margins after Guido Carillo headed the pepineros in front during injury time. The only blanquivioleta win came in 2019/20, already once the pandemic had commenced, and thus, played behind closed doors. The game was decided again on one goal terms, with the Butarque visitors scoring twice to outdo Óscar Rodríguez's effort for the pepineros.
