Fede Vico, the offensive talent joins the Pepinero ranks

C.D. Leganés will sign 27-year-old playmaker Federico Vico Villegas for the next two seasons, with an option to extend another year. The Cordoba-born player, who has played at international level in youth categories, arrives at Butarque after playing a total of 26 games last season for Granada C.F., 20 in La Liga, 4 in the Copa del Rey and one in the Europa League.

Once finishing his contract with the Granada team, Fede Vico will join the training sessions of the Pepinera discipline from next Monday. The Cordoba-born player came up through the youth ranks of Córdoba C.F. until he made his debut with the first team at the age of 16 in the Second Division. He consolidated his first team place in the 2011/12 campaign, but broke through the following season with 41 appearances and 6 goals in all competitions earning him call-ups to the U-19 and U-20 national teams. He played that summer in the U19 European Championship, losing in the semi-finals against France and scoring one goal in the four games he played.

LaLiga SmartBank experience, top flight ambition

The following season, Vico's potential secured him a transfer to Belgian side Anderlecht . He spent the 2013/14 season in Belgium, being loaned in the second half of the season to Oostende. However, in 2014 he returned to Córdoba C.F. on loan, this time in the First Division. With his hometown team he would play 22 official matches, though it was not enough to save the Andalusian team from the drop.

In the 2015/16 season he moved to Albacete Balompié on loan, before returning to Anderlecht at the start of the 2016/17 campaign before making a return to Spain in the winter transfer window, this time to C.D. Lugo, where over the next season and a half he notched 36 official appearances, tallying 3 goals and 4 assists. The following season he joined C.D. Leganés for the first time, but transferred the next summer to Granada C.F. Once his contract there concludes, he will rejoin the blanquiazules as an evolved, seasoned footballer.

A left-footed baller with deft technique and great versatility, Vico is comfortable across the flanks and the centre of the pitch. His presentation date will be confirmed soon.
