Javier Aguirre: “We want to play a good match, win and wait”

Awaziem, Jonathan Silva, Kevin Rodrigues, Recio, Óscar, Szymanowski and Carrillo will not be part of the next match against Athletic (Thursday, 21:00h).

C.D Leganés’ manager Javier Aguirre attended the media this Wednesday in the pre-match press conference held at I.D Butarque before the 37th matchday of LaLiga that will be played this Thursday (21:00h) against Athletic Club at San Mamés. The manager confirmed that seven players will not be able to be part of the match because of injuries and suspensions, three more players are also on doubt.

Aguirre will not be able to have Awaziem, Jonathan Silva and Recio who are suspended. Szymanowski, Óscar, Carrillo and Kevin Rodrigues will be out because of injuries. Bustinza, Omeruo and Rubén Pérez are on doubt because of physical problems.

“It may be the most important match of the season and Leganés’ history in First Division. It is not normal not to have that many absences. The ones that go out into the pitch will do their best. We are brave and cannot wait to play the match”.

“We need to go after the six points”

The white and blues’ coach is optimistic: “I believe in my players. We are alive and feeling strong. We want to go to San Mamés, play a good match, win, and wait. Winning at San Mamés is not easy for any team, Athletic is a strong and solid match with hopes to play in European competitions but we need to look for the match and see what happens”.

Aguirre does not believe its worthy to do the match about the points needed to survive: “We may win the six points and not reach our goal because it does not depend exclusively on us. We must go after the six points and hope the others do not get points. We have pride, dignity, professionalism, and attitude. We have fought on all the matches except for two or three in which we did not”.
