Javier Avilés, pepinero until 2026

Winger Javier Avilés, 24, reached an agreement to renew his contract with the club until the end of the 2025/26 season. The deal keeps the academy product at Leganés for the current season and at least the next four campaigns.

Avilés first joined Leganés at the youth level, arriving from Real Madrid and having passed through the academies at Atlético Baleares and Pobla de Mafumet before he joined the pepinero set-up. He won his first appearance for the senior team in October 2018 after his selection by Mauricio Pellegrino for a cup tie against Rayo Vallecano, but had his debut feature in the top flight in August 2019 against Atlético Madrid. In the 2019/20 campaign he played in ten games, where he introduced himself as a confident goal scorer with his memorable strike against C.A. Osasuna at El Sadar.

35 games for the first team since his debut in 2018

Once established as a full member of the senior squad, Avilés played 24 games in the 2020/21 season, alternating starts with appearances from the bench for a total time on the pitch of 1,144 minutes and becoming one of the top assisters for the pepineros.

The club is delighted to have secured the services of a bright, promising young player for the next four years.
