Preview: C.D. Leganés search for win in first derby of the season

C.D. Leganés travel this Sunday to the Estadio Fernando Torres to play C.F. Fuenlabrada at 18:15 CEST, in the ninth LaLiga SmartBank matchday so far. The pepineros hope to continue adding points to their position and make it a second consecutive away win after victory in Anduva two weeks ago.

Leganés are unbeaten in three weeks, winning seven of their nine points in this time after beating S.D. Amorebieta (1-0) and C.D. Mirandés (2-1) while they drew to C.D. Lugo (1-1). The pepineros will hope their good form can help them navigate their first derby game of the season against C.F. Fuenlabrada.

Asier Garitano's side will be hurt by the absences of those on national duty for the Qatar World Cup qualifiers, with Kenneth Omeruo, Gaku Shibasaki and Yoel Bárcenas all away. Injury concerns also rule out Unai Bustinza, Xavi Quintillà, Javier Avilés and Jon Bautista for the fixture too.

C.F. Fuenlabrada, looking for a change in fortune

C.F. Fuenlabrada approach the game only a single point ahead of the pepineros, but count themselves among Real Oviedo and Burgos C.F. as one of the teams with the lowest number of goals conceded, with only six shots beating their goalkeeper so far. That said, the Madrid rivals could not stop Málaga C.F. from scoring in their match last weekend (1-0) and will relish the opportunity to return to winning form with the support of the home crowd.

José Luis Oltra's side has seen it all at the Fernando Torres: a win over F.C. Cartagena (2-1), two draws against C.D. Lugo and then Real Zaragoza and a loss on the first day of the season against C.D. Tenerife. The home manager will be happy by the prospect of a returning Mbia, though he commented he would wait until the final training session to confirm his squad situation.

The match will be officiated by the Basque referee, Mr. D. Gorka Sagués Oscoz.
