Preview: C.D. Leganés seeks to secure third place on the last day in Zaragoza

C.D. Leganés visits Real Zaragoza this Sunday (21:00) at La Romareda, in a match corresponding to the forty-second round of LaLiga SmartBank. The pepineros, already qualified for the play-offs, will be looking for a victory to finish third and face the playoffs from the best possible position.

C.D. Leganés ends the regular season in Zaragoza after mathematically qualifying for the play-offs for promotion to LaLiga Santander last Monday with their victory against Málaga C.F. The Blue and Whites secured their place in the play-offs after stringing together a run of seven consecutive matches without losing, and now they want to finish the season with a win to finish in third position.

This would allow them to face the second leg of the first round and the hypothetical final at Butarque, in addition to ensuring that, in the event of a draw at the end of the play-offs, they would be the winners. For Sunday's clash, Asier Garitano will be without the injured Bustinza, Omeruo, Lasure, Shibasaki, José Arnaiz and Borja Bastón.

Real Zaragoza, looking to end the season on a high note

For its part, Real Zaragoza faces the match with the intention of finishing the campaign with a good image. The Aragonese team achieved salvation a couple of matchdays ago, and aims to finish as high as possible in the table after a season in which they have gone from less to more, showing an upward trend after the arrival of the current coach Juan Ignacio Martínez.

Los Maños lost last week in the last minutes in Mallorca (2-1), a match they came to after five consecutive matches without losing. The Zaragocistas have not lost at La Romareda since last February, when they did so against A.D. Alcorcón, and have accumulated four wins and three draws in their last seven home matches.

The match will be refereed by the Basque referee, Mr. Gorka Sagués Oskoz.
