As if it was today… ten years ago Leganés got an important win at Lanzarote (1-2) and continued their fight to reach Segunda División’s promotion play offs. Two goals scored by Aníbal allowed Agustín Vara’s team to continue their fight to reach the top 4 of 2009/10 league.

Leganés was seventh on the league just 6 points away from the fourth position. The team needed a win to continue on their fight to reach promotion play offs. Vara was the new manager after replacing Luis Ángel Duque, his initial squad that day was: Raúl Moreno, Postigo, Negral, Javi, Durango, Chupe, Valleros, Zarandona, Carlos Martínez, Aníbal and Quini. Garrido got in the game after half time while García Granero and Nacho Aznar did it on second half.

The pepineros started winning after Aníbal’s goal against his former team. Lanzarote managed to tie up the game just after the start of second half, but it was Aníbal who scored again and helped the team to get the 3 points. The white and blues continued their fight to reach promotion play offs and were about to play next against Universidad de Las Palmas.
