Asier Garitano: "Against Almeria we have a direct chance to cut points".

C.D. Leganés' coach, Asier Garitano, held a press conference this Friday ahead of the match against U.D. Almería tomorrow (18:15) at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos, corresponding to the thirty-first matchday of LaLiga SmartBank.

The coach confirmed the absence of the injured Lasure, Jonathan Silva, Eraso, Tarín and Ignasi Miquel, as well as that the Brazilian from the reserve team, Cassio Junior, will be part of the squad, and expects the team to maintain the line of consistency shown in recent weeks, with the exception of the last match against Fuenlabrada: "We will try to maintain the line we are having. One match has nothing to do with the other, let's see if we are capable of counteracting what a very good team like Almería has".

"We have to maintain regularity and if we fail we would move away from the best".

Asier is clear about the team's objective: "We will try to keep bothering those teams at the top. We know that it is difficult to subtract points in the second round, but we are on that path and as long as there are points, we will try to make it difficult for the top teams. They have an advantage over us, which we are reducing and there is less and less time left. We face the match with the possibility of cutting back and see if we are capable of playing a great game".
The Blue and Whites' coach believes that this is a match that can mark them: "We are five points behind second and when you play against the top teams you have the chance to cut down, even knowing the difficulty of playing away from home and against strong teams in the category. We have to maintain consistency and if we fail, we would move away from the best. We've been like this for two months and we'll see what we can do.

"Almeria is a team made to be promoted".

"Almeria is a team made to be promoted to the First Division, they went through their complicated moment at the beginning of the season and now they are with the best and with all the options to be promoted. They have the experience of last season and very important players. As of today they are the third best team and for us it is a challenge to go there and be able to compete with them. Stopping Sadiq is difficult, but they have a block and a way of interpreting the game that makes them a very powerful team".
Asked about the calendar and the upcoming matches, Asier assured that they are only thinking "about one match, and this one will take us to the next one. We don't think beyond that and that's the way we're going to continue until the end of the season. We are focused on trying to cut down on the teams at the top and that also helps you to get into the playoff positions. There are strong teams coming and they are doing well, but we maintain the same idea of trying to cut points with the top three", he concluded.
