On Tuesday morning, C.D. Leganés visited Severo Ochoa Hospital to continue the 13-year long tradition of participating in the Blood Donation Marathon hosted by the hospital on 11th November.
Not only will the full first team squad attend, but joining them will be the coaching body under Mehdi Nafti and club president Victoria Pavón, general director Martín Ortega and sporting director Txema Indias. All contributed to promote the donation process under the slogan "You are my life, you are my love. Donate with your heart".
"You can't put a price on saving a life"
Captain Unai Bustinza wanted to emphasise the importance of these actions: "It's a pleasure to be able to set examples of good behaviour and its importance. We're all proud and hopefully it inspires more to come too; its crucial". In this way, Unai asked fans and folk alike to welcome these types of action, insisting that "the simple act of coming to donate can save a life. We have to share our luck and commitment, it's a small gesture that goes a long way and you can't put a price on saving a life".
Speaking on the Hospital's behalf, Chief of Hematology Pedro Sánchez Godoy expressed that "the benefits of donating are lives saved, and it's absolutely necessary. More now than ever, as our pool of donors is less diverse and since the start of the pandemic we've been referred to many times for those needing blood. Now is the most important time".
All donors who attend the event on Thursday will be able to win a shirt signed by the squad and a ball from the club.
