C.D. Leganés was unable to add points in their sixth matchday of LALIGA HYPERMOTION against U.D. Las Palmas (0-1), suffering their first defeat of the season. Ale García, at the start of the second half, scored the only goal of the match. The referee disallowed a goal by Diawara at 0-0 due to a millimetric offside.
Leganés made only one change to their lineup compared to last Sunday's victory in Granada, with Miguel de la Fuente returning to the starting eleven and Gonzalo Melero moving to the bench. Paco López repeated the three-center-back formation, with Duk and Naim as wing-backs, although this time Juan Cruz joined Diego and Miguel as the team's most advanced players.
First half dominated by Leganés with a disallowed goal for Diawara due to a millimetric offside by Diego García in the play
The match began with Leganés trying to take the initiative and attempting to reach the opponent's area through the wings, with a first dangerous shot by Diego García in the 14th minute from a corner taken by Naim that went just over the bar. In the 23rd minute, the same players were involved, with Naim breaking through on the left and sending a ball to the far post that Diego almost managed to finish. In the 29th minute, Diawara scored after a great team play, but the referee, following VAR review, disallowed the goal due to a prior millimetric offside by Diego.
Leganés kept pushing for the opener, and in the 39th minute, Miguel and Cissé tested Horkas, with the visiting goalkeeper neutralizing the danger. In added time, Horkas again saved a shot from Miguel, and a header from Diego after a run by Duk went over the bar. Despite Leganés' dominance and chances, the first half ended 0-0.
Ale García, also enabled by millimeters, scored the only goal of the match at the start of the second half
The second half began with no changes for Leganés, and Ale García had the first dangerous action for Las Palmas with a header from a corner. In the 51st minute, the visitors took the lead through Ale García, who capitalized on a ball behind the defense, enabled again by millimeters according to the semi-automatic offside system, to beat Juan Soriano one-on-one and make it 0-1.
In the 60th minute, Leganés was reduced to ten men after José Antonio Sánchez sent off Cissé with a second yellow card in a play where the Guinean was previously held. In the 64th minute, Paco López made a triple substitution to reorganize the team, bringing on Melero, Pauwels, and Álex Millán in place of Naim, Diego, and Miguel.
First defeat for Leganés, who will play at home again in the next matchday
With a numerical disadvantage, Las Palmas gained more possession against a Leganés side that made their final substitutions in the 72nd minute, introducing Figueredo, who made his official debut, and Roberto López in place of Duk and Juan Cruz. From then until the end, despite the white-and-blue team's attempts to approach the opponent's goal, Las Palmas slowed the pace of the game to ensure little happened.
This was Leganés' first defeat of the season, leaving the team with seven points in the standings. The next match for the white-and-blue team will be on Monday, the 29th (8:30 PM) at the Ontime Butarque against C.D. Castellón.
