C.D. Leganés chase a first-ever victory in Burgos

This Sunday C.D. Leganés will look to secure their first ever win over Burgos C.F. The pepineros and burgaleses have clashed in three official matches until now, with all three ending tied across two Butarque games and one at El Plantío.

Leganés and Burgos C.F. prepare for their first encounter since the 2001/02 Segunda División season. In October 2001, the duel at the Butarque ended goalless between the Ciriaco Cano and Enrique Martín managed sides, the latter in his second spell in charge of the blanquiazules. The same result was produced after 90 minutes of football later that season in the Burgos reverse fixtue, despite Carlos Sánchez Aguiar having taken the Leganés reins.

Almost 20 years on, both teams were forced to settle for another 0-0 finish, splitting the points, in the first fixture this season at the Butarque. For all the advantages associated with home game and dominance in possession, the scorecard went unmarked in yet another clash between the clubs: a habit the pepineros will look to definitively end this weekend in order to claim the all the spoils themselves.
