C.D. Leganés look to reboot LaLiga campaign in Burgos

C.D. Leganés travel to El Plantío to play this Sunday at 14:00 (CET) in their 24th league game of the season, with Burgos C.F. as the matchday opponent. The pepineros resume LaLiga football following the break last weekend in the hopes of securing an away win to build momentum for the second stretch of the season.

LaLiga football is back. After a two-week break for Supercopa and Copa del Rey commitments, the league schedule takes centre stage this weekend, with Leganés set to visit an opponent hovering only three points above them in the table - a position that would change should they secure a victory on the road. A difficult fixture, the first leg having finished 0-0 in the Butarque last calendar year.

Focused on the battleground of El Plantío, pepinero manager, Mehdi Nafti, will have to make do without an injured Fede Vico or Kenneth Omeruo, whose Nigeria team now enter the Round of 16 of AFCON against Tunisia. Róber Ibáñez, the newest addition to the blanquiazules who arrived during the January window on loan to begin his third stint of the club, will be available.

Burgos C.F., hoping to defend their home record

Burgos C.F. approach the game from 14th place in LaLiga SmartBank, only three point above the pepineros and eight away from the drop in their first season playing up in Segunda División. The castellano-leoneses have proved themselves a capable side in front of the home crowd, having secured six of the eight league victories so far and only suffering defeats to S.D. Eibar (0-1) and Real Zaragoza (0-1).

The blanquinegro boss, Julián Calero, will have to contend with his own fitness complications as he selects his squad for Sunday. Raúl Navarro and Fran García both remain injured, while centre back Grego Sierra is currently suspended after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season in his previous league appearance. For all their might at home, Burgos are three matches without a win; their closest recent result was a draw against S.D. Amorebieta (2-2).

The match will be officiated by the Catalan referee, Sr. D. Rubén Ávalos Barrera.
