The locals were more fluid and tried their luck but always found Cuellar, who made an incredible save to deny Gameiro from close range although it all came after an offside. The first shot for Leganes came from El Zhar's boots but Neto didn't have any problems.
Injuries affected both teams during the first half forcing the substitutions of Cheryshev and Carrillo, who made way for Carlos Soler and Sabin Merino.
The second half started better for Leganes with the introduction of Rodri Tarin for El Zhar. The visitors kept on being solid at the back and created some danger on the counter with occasions for Sabin and Oscar.
The goal arrived after Oscar Rodriguez anticipated Garay in the box and the defender fouled the cucumber player. Iglesias Villanueva didn't signal for anything but the VAR confirmed it was a penalty. Gumbau from the spot put Leganes ahead in the 62nd minute. After the goal Leganes gained confidence and Valencia seemed shocked for a few minutes before reacting and pinning Leganes back. Omeruo had to leave the pitch on the 69th because of an injury.
The equalizer arrived at the end. Gayá from the left took a shot that deflected on Juanfran and left Cuéllar without a chance of avoiding the 1-1.
