As if it was today… five years ago Leganés reached one of their most remarkable wins on their return to Segunda División. Pepineros won against Real Betis at Benito Villamarín Stadium (1-3). The team played with 10 players for more than 50 minutes setting up an epic performance against the Segunda División’s leader.

It was the 23rd match-day of 2014/15 Segunda División’s season and the pepineros had to visit the leaders at their home. Asier Garitano’s initial squad was: Serantes, Marc Bertrán, Postigo, Mantovani, César Soriano, Erik Morán, Álvaro García, Eraso, Diamanka, Aguirre and Sergio Prendes. Ruben Peña, Eizmendi and Carlos Delgado playe don the second half.

Leganés surprised Betis from the first minute. On 20’ Eraso scored the first goal with an auto assist. Diamanka received 2 yellow cards and left the match at 40’, Asier Garitano was also sent off by the referee. The pepineros increased their lead with the goals scored by Marc Bertrán and Postigo. Jorge Molina scored Betis’ only goal at 72’. At the end it was an afternoon to remember for all the pepineros fans.
