As if it was today… four years ago Leganés managed to sum up a point against Elche (0-0) that allowed the team to continue as Segunda División’ leader. The pepineros continued on their way to promotion after tying against the franjiverdes.

Asier Garitano’s initial squad was: Serantes, Víctor Díaz, Mantovani, Insua, Albizua, Timor, Ruiz de Galarreta, Miramón, Gabriel, Szymanowski and Borja Lázaro. Luis Ruiz and Eizmendi would play since mid-time while Sastre played on the second half. Galarreta, Borja Lázaro, Mantovani and Szymanowski tried to score but the rivals’ keeper Javi Jiménez managed to stop all Leganés occasions.

No goals were scored at Butarque but the fans thrilled with the match and the Leganés’ hymn interpretation by the Ohio Shaker Heights Marching Band’ at half time.
