Asier Garitano: "They're a competitive team but we're approaching the game with the mentality to win"

C.D. Leganés manager, Asier Garitano, appeared in a press conference this Tuesday ahead of the pepineros' 11th LaLiga SmartBank game of the season: their derby against A.D. Alcorcón this Wednesday at 21:00 (CEST) at the Santo Domingo.

The coach felt confident that, despite the last two defeats, the team will compete against Alcorcón, citing some of their more "positive numbers, which tell you they have desire, tenacity and they chase. Our last game was particularly recent, but we're dedicated to working on the attacking and defensive aspects of our game that need improving so we're better for it the next time out".

On Wednesday's opponent, he commented that "Alcorcón had a jumpy start, it wasn't easy, but they're a competitive team that know their objectives and will stay battling in the league. Each match presents an opportunity; for us, it's the chance to get out of the relegation zone and that's what we'll take to the game, with the hopes of acheiving it".

"The goals haven't come easily and our opponents are making us suffer at the other end"

Asier gave his thoughts on the areas for improvement to start turning the results their way: "It's not been long to adjust between games, so we will see. The squad is set as it is, but it will give us the chance to make changes and updates. The goals haven't come easily and our opponents are making us suffer at the other end. We need to keep developing our football so that we can limit the threat the other teams generate, because they've been shooting little and scoring lots".

Lastly, the manager lamented his short bench in recent matches due to injuries across the squad: "It is what it is, we played several fixtures with a lot of absences and it's never helpful, but we try to get the most out of the players in every game".
