Asier Garitano: "We want to hold our line and do the same as we've done in these past few games"

C.D. Leganés manager, Asier Garitano, appeared before a press conference to discuss the pepineros eighth game of the season, which will be played on Sunday against C.D. Lugo at 21:00 CEST at the Butarque.

The coach also confirmed the absences of injured Avilés, Quintillà and Bautista, who suffered a broken toe last week, and considered his options in attack: "We have Borja Garcés, Sabin Merino and Juan Muñoz... Borja is extremely prepared, but there have been impediments to him joining training in these last few week. He is a competitive player and is key to the squad".

Garitano also highlighted the importance of the Butarque operating with 100% capacity: "For us its the most important thing, its crucial to have people there. They always have been and always will be and their presence makes a difference. We already saw the effect last match and the difference they made in previous weeks. We want each day to have an even better atmosphere. I don't doubt that this will make us play better and strenghten our game; needless to say, its a very important part for us".

"We're a little better each week and we are always aiming to be the best"

On the subject of opponents C.D. Lugo, Garitano commented that the team was "having injury problems, but frankly, are performing well. They have different ways to attack and defend, they have alternated between them before, they are in good shape, they battle in the air... it will be a complicated match-up, but we will try and reinforce the strong areas of our game and never stop improving. We want to hold our line and do the same as we've done in these past few games".

Lastly, Asier expressed his confidence in the team's potential to progress: "We're a little better each week and we are always aiming to be the best. Iván Villar, Bautista, Fede Vico, Bárcenas... all great examples. They each have put in the hours and we know how much they can contribute. You can tell the difference nowadays and we believe we'll only move onto to better things. There's demand that we do things well and give everything when we wear the shirt. Although we've taken the last two games in our favour we're still closer to the drop than the better sides and the idea is to continue strining together results without forgetting where it is we started".
