C.D. Leganés could not continue its winning streak in its visit to Cartagena (1-0)

C.D. Leganés could not score against F.C. Cartagena at the Cartagonova Stadium in the match corresponding to the twenty-seventh matchday of LaLiga Smartbank, in which the locals were able to capitalize on Rubén Castro's goal at the beginning of the second half, after he missed a penalty before the break.

Long-range shots by the Pepineros and a penalty missed by Rubén Castro in the first half.

With the start of the match, C.D. Leganés was the first to stalk the rival goal with a shot by Rubén Pardo from the edge of the area that went narrowly wide. The pepineros tried to finish the play and shortly after José Arnáiz and Jonathan Silva also tried their luck from distance, but without success in front of goal.
In the middle of the first half, the locals had their first chance with a shot by Raúl Navas after a corner kick that went wide. In addition, Nacho Gil had a shot from the balcony of the area, but so far no clear scoring opportunity for either team.
Before the break, the Pepineros seemed to take control of the match again, reaching the rival goal especially with dangerous crosses from the right wing, but it was Rubén Castro who had the chance to distance himself on the scoreboard. The Canary Islander took advantage of a pass in the area to anticipate Cuellar and cause a penalty. Fortunately for Asier Garitano's men, the Cartagena striker sent the ball wide.

F.C. Cartagena took the lead after the restart

Just as the first half ended, the second half began, but this time the home side did get on the scoreboard after Rubén Castro took advantage of a clearance by the Pepinero goalkeeper to open the scoring. The pepineros had to row against the tide and the 'míster' made changes to look for the revulsive that the team needed with the entry of Javi Avilés, Luis Perea and Borja Bastón.
The team from the south of Madrid went in search of the equalizer and Perea could have headed it after a corner cross, but the ball went wide. The last fifteen minutes of the match were to be a monologue of the Blue and Whites, while the Blue and Whites were to resist the Pepineros' arrivals, well positioned at the back and hoping to generate a counterattack with which to put some ground in the middle.
Arnáiz and Omeruo had the clearest headed chances before the final whistle of a match in which the Madrid side saw their streak of five consecutive victories come to an end and will now have to think about making up for it next matchday at home against Castellón.
