C.D. Leganés, winner of the II Trofeo Villa de Leganés Femenino

C.D. Leganés became winners of the II Edición del Trofeo Villa de Leganés Femenino as the beat C.D. Getafe Femenino (4-1) for the trophy. Patri, María, Vane and Ale were the pepinera goalscorers who hit large for the club in front of the 4,600 fans in attendance at the Butarque on Thursday night.

Both teams began the game with intensity, but no clear chances emerged for either side during the first 15 minutes. Melany in the 18' had the first opportunity for the away side with a shot from in front that was blocked by the pepinera defense. Jero Martos' squad worked through Trapero, Patri and Estela, their forward most players, to harness their attacking threat against a Getafe with a high press.

Patri and María score for Leganés in the first half

After 25 minutes Patri was the one to send the home side into the lead as she took advantage of a defensive error to tuck away the first goal of the game into the empty net to the delight of the 4,600 fans in the Butarque stands. In the 40' the pepineras doubled their lead from a long shot arched in by Nina, who had all the time to pick out a spot to beat the keeper and make the score 2-0 after 45 minutes.

Leganés came out from the dressing room hoping to seal the result their way, which looked all too likely after their sustained pressure led to two shots from Adri and Truji ricocheting off the woodwork. Tessy's Getafe corner reignited their attacking threat as Amy's almost connected to send the ball into the goal, but was left frustrated. But then, pepinera keeper held fast and responded well in the 70' to deny Laura the upperhand in a 1-on-1.

Vane and Ale win the second half

The blanquiazules made it 3-0 in the 73' after Vane stole possession in the mouth of goal. Soon after Getafe were able to cut the deficit in the 78' when their build-up play culminated in a clinical finish from Claudia. But the final stroke would come in the 86' when the pepineras got their fourth thanks to Ale.

With the final whistle, C.D. Leganés lifted their second Villa de Leganés Femenino trophy. Congratulations, team!
