Jorge Saénz signs as new C.D. Leganés player

C.D. Leganés and Valencia C.F. reached an agreement on Friday to sign 25-year-old centre-back Jorge Sáenz on loan for one season. The Tenerife-born player reinforces the Leganes defence for this year after having played the second half of last season at C.D. Mirandés. The agreement includes an option to buy in case of promotion to LaLiga Santander.

Trained in the youth academy of C.D. Tenerife, Sáenz made his debut with the first team in LaLiga SmartBank in the 2014/15 season, at just eighteen years of age, and the following season he was part of the first team of the chicharreros. He gradually made his way into the team, becoming a key part of a Tenerife that almost achieved the promotion in the 2018/19 season, in which Jorge also excelled in attack, scoring four goals.

His youth and good performances attracted the attention of several LaLiga Santander clubs, with Valencia C.F. finally acquiring his services in the summer of 2019. During the following two seasons he defended the shirt of R.C. Celta, making his debut with the team from Vigo in the First Division.

Experience in the First Division, in Portugal and again in LaLiga SmartBank with Mirandés.

Last summer he left for Portugal, playing the first half of the season with Marítimo in the Primeira Liga, and returning to Spain in the winter market to join C.D. Mirandés. With the team from Anduva he would be a regular in the second half of the season, playing as a starter in all the matches in which he was available.

An Under-21 international with the Spanish national team, Jorge Sáenz will contribute his experience of more than 120 games in LaLiga SmartBank despite his youth. A centre-back who stands out for his wingspan and physique, he has a good aerial game thanks to his 1'92 height and has a good ball control. His presentation date will be announced soon.
