Rodri Tarín: “My only goal is to secure survival”

C.D Leganés’ defender Rodri Tarín answered the questions sent by the media before this Thursday’s training session at Instalación Deportiva Butarque. The pepineros’ defender recognizes the great physical level of his teammates and is convinces that the team will achieve the survival.

“I’m positively surprised about my teammates’ level”

Tarín started referring about the return to work and the competition restart: “It is practically impossible to equal the preparation we normally have on a preseason when you normally have month an half and about eight preparation matches before you play officially. After being two months at home, with the weather conditions, no friendly matches, and frequent games, it will certainly be different”, remarked.

The valenciano is happy to see his teammates physical form: “I’m positively surprised about my teammates’ level, they have taken care of themselves on these months and are in a good shape. Group training sessions allow us to get closer to the level required to compete. Individual training sessions are better to measure yourself, to know where you can get. I think we will face some injuries in the coming days because it is like a preseason”.

“I would like to feel our fans strength from their homes”

When questioned if this suspension may have benefited a team in specific, Tarín thinks not: “This situation doesn’t benefit anyone. For example, we had won at Vila-Real, had a great level and were motivated to play at Butarque against Valladolid, this situation has stopped all that. This is first division and all of us must be motivated to compete on the remaining matches”.

The number 15 recognizes it will be different to compete without fans but trusts that they will send their support: “I would love to have Butarque full of people cheering up on us and helping the team to win. Playing with fans will not be football, it will be “half football” and is rare. Given the circumstances I would love to feel our fans strenght from their homes with the correct safety measures and distancing”.

“There are no excuses, we all start from scratch and are equally prepared”

Tarín gives no space to excuses about reaching the objectives on LaLiga’s remaining matches: “We all are on the same conditions, although is true that the bigger teams are more prepared to play every 3 days. But there are no room for excuses, we all start from scratch and are equally prepared. I haven’t thought about relegation at all, there are eleven matches remaining and we are three points away from getting out of the red zone, that’s my only thought”

At the end, the defender referred to the possibility of staying overnight at camps with the team: “I don’t support the camps. I am not sure if being with the team one week before a match could help once LaLiga returns”.
