The academy finalizes the 2019/20 competition with two championships and one promotion

C.D Leganés’ academy teams have seen how the 2019/20 season was finalized after the decision made by The Madrid’s Football Federation on May 14th. After a great performance from all the teams, two championships and one category promotion are the final balance for the youth squads.

Two teams have been proclaimed champions after the end of the competition. Alevín 'A' has won the Group 4 of Primera Autonómica title which is the top tournament of their category, ratifying what had been done on the last season, the team was the top scorer and the one that received the least goals of the tournament. Alberto González’s Benjamín 'A' also won the title on a consecutive basis on the benjamín category top tournament winning all their matches, scoring 119 goals, and receiving only nine.

Jara Cuenca’s Infantil 'B' reached promotion to Primera Autonómica after being second on preferente’s group 8. The team scored a total of 84 goals on 17 matches played. The team returns to the category lost on the previous year.

The second team will not play the playoffs after fourteen matchdays being among the first four

Luis Cembrano’s Leganés 'B' ended sixth on the season just three points away from the promotion to Segunda División 'B' playoffs. The team managed to be among the first four during fourteen matches and be the top scorer of Tercera División’s Group 7 (49 goals). Three players of the team were part of the first team during the season:  Javier Avilés, Aymane Mourid and Dani Plomer.

Leganés 'C' will be part again on next season of Primera de Aficionados tournament after the decision made by the RFFM to end the competition.

Juvenil category teams ended up on eight, third and fourth position respectively

David Bohega’s Juvenil 'A' team ended up on eight position at División de Honor category (the best competition of this category nationwide). The team had chances to fight for being at the top four positions of Group V when the tournament was suspended. The team will continue to fight to be one of the best of its category next year.

Sergio Solís’ Juvenil 'B' was third on Liga Nacional Juvenil league (the same position occupied last season by the team) only beaten by Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid. The team plays in one of the most competitive tournaments of youth categories.

Raul Huertas’ Juvenil 'C' ended up fourth on Autonómica Juvenil league and was the team with the least scored team. This category is particularly hard because of the age differences among the teams.

The rest of the teams competed well con their leagues

Cadete 'A' coached by Iván Pernía ended up fourth on cadete’s top category while Enrique Jiménez’s Cadete 'B' team was fifth on the same category, playing with younger players than its competitors. Infantil 'A' commanded by José Luis Martín finished fourth after being the top scorer and competing with their rivals to ratify last season’s title.

Kiko Fernández’s Alevín 'B' finished eleventh on the top alevín category on its first year with 11-players format. The team competed against more experienced teams and will be back for the next season.

Daniel Arribas’ Benjamín 'B' was eight on benjamín’s top category. The team will compete on the same category for next season. Prebenjamín 'A', coached by Ángel Delgado ended up second being beated only by Atlético de Madrid 'A'.

Jorge Broto: “We have managed to settle as a strong and competitive academy”

Academy’s director Jorge Broto analyzed the end of the season: “It was a season that we were convinced about Leganés 'B'’s capacity to fight for promotion but unfortunately COVID-19 pandemic did not allow us to continue our pursuit of that dream. I consider that in general we have managed to settle as a strong and competitive academy thanks to the effort of all the people that are part of the academy and the player’s work on their growth and the achievement of their dreams”.
