C.D. Leganés 'B' beat U.C. Ceares 4-0 to take play-off spot

A first win this calendar year for the pepinero reserve side that also pushes them into the play-off positions.

A flawless first half performance for the second team, who extended their lead over the Asturian squad by three already at half time. Carlos Martínez's men wasted little time after kick off, their first goal coming in the 10' as Óscar Coll delivered a great finish on the edge of the box. The striker doubled his account for the afternoon just 30 minutes in, converting on a left-wing cross from Álex to cushion the Leganés lead.

Soon after, Diego García added his name to the scorecard by tucking away another assist from out left, this time from Aymane, to increase the margin to three at the break.

A stark contrast to a Ceares that struggled to create clear opportunities to challenge keeper Sergio Valero; the visitors also had to contend with a numerical disadvantage after David Blanco was sent off for a blatant denial of a goalscoring chance.

C.D. Leganés 'B' resumed with the same high intensity as the second whistle blew, with Mario Rivas netting the fourth and final one of the afternoon in the 47' with his head. The affiliate team continued to dominate through the rest of the match and went on to comfortable maintain the result.

It was C.D. Leganés 'B's first win of 2022 and their seventh in the league so far. Indeed, the victory proves enough to move the pepineros into fifth place, the playoff zone, at 27 points so far.

Carlos Martínez and his side face their next league opponent next Sunday 30th January against Salamanca C.F. at 17:00 (CET).
