CD Leganés lost against Villarreal at Butarque in an even game in which the Cucumbers players had some clear goal scoring chances that they did not convert. Leganés missed a penalty through Guido Carrillo and the only goal of the match scored by Bacca in the second half was enough to give the visitors the three points.
Both teams struggled to create goal-scoring opportunities in the first half but were not successful. However, Guido Carrillo had two dangerous headers in the last minute before the half-time.
The second half started with a penalty for CD Leganés after the ball hit Mario Gaspar’s arm. Carrillo missed the penalty and his shot went over the bar.
After the Villarreal made two changes, came Bacca's goal. The Colombian headed from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner thanks to a cross of Miguel Layún with a free-kick (m.62).
Leganés pushed until the end and looked for a draw. Óscar shooted twice but his efforts were well blocked by Asenjo, a free-kick of Layún hitted the woodwork and Cuéllar had good saves.
