The Madrid-based club continues strengthening its international presence after a successful football development initiative in Baghdad.
C.D. Leganés has successfully completed its international event in Baghdad (Iraq), held in collaboration with INAFFS Football from October 16 to 19, 2025, as part of the club’s ongoing global expansion strategy.
Over three days, the club’s international coaching staff led intensive training sessions, observation matches, and scouting activities with local footballers aged 16 to 23. Participants experienced firsthand the official C.D. Leganés methodology, known for its holistic approach combining athletic performance, technical development, and personal growth.
The event received an excellent response from local players and coaches, who highly valued the opportunity to train under the standards of a LaLiga club and learn about the values that define C.D. Leganés: teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement.
STRENGTHENING INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
In addition to the sporting activities, the visit included an important institutional and diplomatic agenda.
The C.D. Leganés delegation held meetings with representatives of LaLiga in Iraq and made an official visit to the Spanish Embassy in Baghdad, where new avenues of collaboration were explored to promote the development of youth football and strengthen ties between both countries.
These meetings reinforce the club’s commitment to its international strategy, aimed at promoting sustainable partnerships in emerging markets and consolidating C.D. Leganés as a reference in education, innovation, and sports cooperation.
A COMMITMENT TO GLOBAL TALENT
This initiative in Iraq adds to the growing list of international projects C.D. Leganés is developing across Europe, America, Asia, and Africa, consolidating its role as an active player in global football development.
“It has been an enriching experience, both professionally and personally. We’ve seen great talent, passion, and potential among the young Iraqi players. This is just the beginning of a strong and lasting relationship,” said representatives from the club’s international department.
