A central defender who joined the club in 1992, in Segunda División B, José Jesús Mesas Puerta achieved promotion under Luis Ángel Duque in his first season with the team. Always a regular starter, he remained with the club for six seasons until his departure to Real Sporting at the end of the 1997/98 campaign.
As a Leganés player, he reached 209 official matches, making him one of the ten footballers with the most appearances in the club’s history, scoring four goals.
