Lega takes home their trophy against Levante

C.D. Leganés were crowned champions of the 45th Villa de Leganés Trophy by defeating Levante U.D. The ninety minutes ended in a 3-3 draw, while the blue and whites won the penalty shootout 4-3.

Millán and Figueredo gave Leganés the lead in the first half

Leganés took an early lead when Álex Millán took advantage of a rebound from Roberto López's shot off the crossbar in the 4th minute to head home and make it 1-0. However, Levante equalized shortly after, in the 8th minute, through Olasagasti, who beat San Román after an initial save by the Pepinero goalkeeper.

The Blue and Whites took the lead again in the 15th minute when Figueredo headed in a corner from the left by Roberto López to make it 2-1. Paco López's team had the advantage after a strong first half by Leganés, heading into the break.

Álex Millán scored a brace and San Román saved two penalty shots

The second half started without any changes, with Leganés scoring their third goal in the 49th minute after a great move by Álex Millán, who passed to Roberto López. The rebound from the number 14 was converted by Millán himself to make it 3-1 and his own brace. Levante reduced the deficit in the 61st minute through Iker Losada, and after the usual flurry of substitutions, with Leganés bringing on many youth players, Espí scored in the 83rd minute to make it 3-3.

In the penalty shootout, San Román took center stage by saving two shots, from Víctor García and Olasagasti, while youth player Sergio Fernández scored the fifth and decisive penalty to take the trophy home. Leganés was crowned the winner of their tournament and is now looking ahead to their next match, on Sunday (2:00 PM) against Málaga C.F.
