C.D. Leganés coach Igor Oca appeared at a press conference on Sunday after the match between Leganés and Córdoba C.F., corresponding to matchday 17 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
The coach summarized the match as follows:
Feelings: “It was a very intense match. We had good feelings during the two days of training, focused on changing that version, and today, given the adversities as well.”
Youth players: “Gueye and Leiva contributed, we are happy. Those were the demands due to injuries, we are happy with their effort and involvement.”
Positive aspects: "I know that Leganés aspires to more and has an obligation to win at home, but we have to keep our feet on the ground and build from where we are, with ten players out, ending up competing with players who are playing for the first time today, players who shouldn't have played due to injury, fever... I'm left with the feeling of a team that wants to turn the situation around. You can't go from zero to a hundred in one game. We'll take the point and improve our performance and get people back."
Gueye's injury: “We have to evaluate him and Figueredo. He's a very tough guy and it looks like it might be minor. Figueredo's seems to be muscular, but we have to wait for the report.”
Psychological aspect: "We know it's difficult to maintain your best performance when you're in these circumstances. We try to be stable in competitive situations like these, against a team with a lot of ball skills. We have to appreciate that. It's not good enough overall, but it's good enough in the sense that we didn't lose face in the game. They had the penalty, but we also had some chances to win. One point and we'll work from there."
Game plan: “You have to take structures into account as a means of improving performance. With ten players out, we had to come up with a structure with what we had, and our opponents demanded that of us too. I was also surprised by how direct Córdoba played, especially on restarts. We made it difficult for them.”
Continuity: “Whether I stay or go is the least important thing. What matters is that the players will have a week to prepare for a very difficult game.”
Message to the fans: “Knowing that the draw is not enough, we have to recognize that this point was achieved through the efforts of the players and the fans. It's difficult to push as hard as they did; if they hadn't, it would have been twice as hard for us. I want to thank them for what they did. We need them. It's harder to commit when things are complicated, but they did it, and we need them.”
