Rubén Albés, born in Vigo 41 years ago, began his coaching career at Burjassot at just 25 years old, later becoming an assistant coach under Benito Floro at Wydad Casablanca in Morocco. Back in Spain, he managed Novelda and Eldense before joining Real Valladolid, starting the 2015–16 season with the reserve team and becoming assistant coach of the first team that same season. The following season, he spent the entire campaign at the helm of the club’s first reserve team.

In 2017, he signed with R.C. Celta in his hometown, taking charge of the reserve team for the 2017–18 season, during which they competed in the promotion playoffs to LALIGA HYPERMOTION following a strong campaign. After two years in Vigo and stints with UCAM Murcia and the Romanian club Hermannstadt, he made his Second Division debut in 2021 with C.D. Lugo in a critical situation, taking over the team in the relegation zone with seven matchdays remaining and securing survival in the final match against Rayo Vallecano.

The following season, Albés secured a comfortable survival with Lugo, also setting the team’s record for the longest unbeaten streak in the Second Division, going as long as twelve consecutive matchdays without a loss. In 2022, he signed with Albacete Balompié, leading the newly promoted Segunda División side to the promotion playoffs for LALIGA EA SPORTS, where they were eliminated in the final round by Levante U.D. That season, he was awarded the Miguel Muñoz Trophy for best coach of the season in LALIGA HYPERMOTION.

In the 2023–24 season, he once again managed Albacete, while in the 2024–25 season, he took the reins at Real Sporting de Gijón. His most recent professional stint, last season, was with Umm Salal S.C. of the Qatar Stars League.
