The Madrid-based club returns to Baghdad with a new coach education program and player tryouts, continuing a well-established international project.
C.D. Leganés continues to advance its international expansion strategy with the organization of its third training event in Iraq, which will take place in Baghdad from February 6 to 11. The event is organized together with INAFFS, the club’s local partner in the country, with QI Card Bank supporting the initiative as official sponsor.
This new event builds on a project that has grown steadily following the success of previous editions, from which selected players have already traveled to Spain to join C.D. Leganés’ training programs, reinforcing the real impact and credibility of the initiative.
COACH EDUCATION: METHODOLOGY AND DEVELOPMENT
From February 6 to 8, the event will focus on coach education, with theoretical and practical sessions delivered by members of C.D. Leganés’ International Department.
During these days, participating coaches will work on the club’s official methodology, player development principles, and the functioning of a professional football structure, fostering knowledge transfer and the growth of grassroots football in the region.
PLAYER TRYOUTS: NEW INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
From February 9 to 11, player tryouts will take place, aimed at young footballers seeking an opportunity to access a professional international environment.
The sessions will include intensive training, observation matches, and scouting processes, following C.D. Leganés’ sporting and methodological criteria.
This new tryout represents another step forward in the continuity of the project, after confirming that players selected in previous editions have been able to experience the club’s training programs in Spain, consolidating a model based on real opportunities and long-term development pathways.
AN INTERNATIONAL PROJECT WITH A LONG-TERM VISION
The ongoing collaboration with INAFFS as the local organizer, together with the support of QI Card Bank as sponsor, reinforces the project’s commitment to the sustainable development of football in the region.
With this third edition in Iraq, C.D. Leganés reaffirms its commitment to global talent, the education of coaches and players, and the creation of strong links between emerging markets and European professional football, further consolidating its international positioning as a development-focused club and methodological benchmark.
